How a round works

Everybody fires in the same turn. You set an angle and a power, read the wind, and commit. Then every shot in the round flies at once, so the tank you aimed at may be somewhere else by the time your shell arrives. Guessing where an opponent will end up matters as much as hitting where they are.

Blasts dig craters, so the ground you are standing on is worn away as the match goes on. A hill you were sheltering behind can be gone by the fifth round, and a tank can be thrown off its footing by its own recoil, or dropped into a hole its own shot opened.

Towers

Each commander has a tower standing on the field beside them, built out of separate blocks of stone, brick, timber, iron, glass and crystal. Every block has its own health, so a shell takes out the one it strikes and whatever was resting on that comes down into the gap. Material decides how it fails: a glass front comes apart at a touch, iron plate has to be worked at.

A tower is worth keeping standing. It repairs its owner a little at the start of each round, scaled by how much of it is left, so an intact tower is a steady trickle of health and a flattened one is nothing at all.

Twenty tanks

Scout, Ranger, Gunner, Howitzer, Demolisher, Sniper, Vanguard, Tempest, Scarab, Burrower, Leviathan, Reclaimer, Ion Warden, Mirage, Chronarch, Sovereign, Helix, Starfall, Eidolon and Catalyst.

Each has its own armour, damage, shell speed and weight, so a light frame is thrown further by the same hit that a heavy one shrugs off. The tank you pick changes how you have to play, not only how you look.

Eighteen weapons

Arc Rocket, Piercer Missile, Heavy Bomb, Ground Mine, Aegis Shield, Orbital Locator, Wildfire Pod, Umbrella Cluster, Singularity Shell, Phase-Lance Projectile, Nanite Corrosion Swarm, Kinetic Railgun, EMP Disruptor, Gamma Ray, Holographic Decoy, Wormhole Projector, Chrono Stasis Field and Fracture Swarm Missile.

They are not variations on one shell. A decoy plants a hologram of your own tank that draws enemy fire. A wormhole pair teleports a shell across the map. A railgun punches straight through everything in its line rather than exploding.

The battlefield

Every map is generated fresh: a mix of sub-biome regions, water, and large formations that block shots and give cover, including spires, arches, caves, waterfall cliffs, jungle ruins, basalt columns, ice shelves and sunken arches. Starting positions are randomised, so nobody opens from the same spot twice.
